A printed badge fades at the edges after a while. An engraved tag doesn't, because the text is cut into the metal rather than sitting on top of it. Five years of laundering, glove handling and equipment bumps and the plate still reads exactly like day one.

Sizes uniforms actually specify

Stocked at 1/2" x 2 3/8" and 5/8" x 2 1/2", one line or two, matching the bar sizes most dress codes call for. Silver and gold cover nearly every uniform policy we've seen.

Got a written badge spec from your organization? Send it over and we'll confirm the match before anything goes into production.

Engraving vs printing

Engraving cuts a recess and fills it with color, so nothing scratches away. It handles text and simple line logos with no issue. Photos and gradients need a printed badge instead.

Fasteners for uniforms

Military post is the default for dress uniforms because it holds the tag dead level. Pin, magnet and pocket clip are also available if that's what the dress code calls for.

Engraved Metal FAQ

Can you engrave a logo on these?

Clean, single-color line art engraves well. A detailed or multi-tone logo should be printed instead.

How are these different from your service name bars?

Same construction. Name bars are just the version cut for service and hospitality uniforms. Check metal service name bars for those layouts.

Does the engraving fill ever fade?

It sits inside the cut, shielded by the metal around it. It outlasts a surface print by a wide margin.

Do I see a proof before you go into production?

Always. Nothing gets run until you sign off on a digital proof, and we do not charge for proof revisions.
