Dental Office Name Badges

4.9/5 from 892 customer reviews

A patient in the chair spends an hour looking at the person working on them and often never catches a name. A badge on the scrub top, positioned where it is visible from a reclined chair, fixes that for a few dollars.

Why it matters here

What a badge actually does for dental offices

Credentials build confidence

RDH, DDS, DMD and CDA all mean something to a patient who has been in a chair before. Put them on the badge.

Scrubs need the right backing

Scrub fabric is thin and pins tear it. Magnetic is the standard in clinical settings for that reason.

Wipeable surfaces

Badges in an operatory get wiped down. A sealed printed or metal surface handles disinfectant better than an unlaminated print.

Where the credential goes

Two conventions both work. Either put the credential on the name line, as in Tara R, RDH, or drop it to the second line with the role, as in Dental Hygienist. The first is more formal, the second is easier to read from a chair.

Whichever you choose, apply it to the whole practice. Mixed conventions in a four person operatory look accidental.

Position on a scrub top

Left chest, above the pocket, is the standard. From a reclined chair the patient's eye line hits that area naturally. A badge clipped to a pocket edge tips forward and becomes unreadable.

Infection control considerations

Badges in a clinical area should be smooth and non porous so they can be wiped with the same surface disinfectant used on the rest of the operatory. Avoid textured finishes, exposed paper inserts and fabric lanyards in the treatment room.

Volume pricing

Standard Plastic Name Badges pricing by quantity

Mixed names and titles cost the same as a repeat run. Setup is included.

Questions

Dental Offices badge questions

Should we list credentials on dental badges?

Yes. RDH, DDS, DMD and CDA are meaningful to patients and take up very little room.

What backing works on scrubs?

Magnetic. Scrub fabric is thin and pin backing eventually tears it.

Can badges be disinfected?

Choose a smooth, sealed surface such as a laminated print or a metal badge. Those wipe down with normal surface disinfectant.
