Skip the pin backing
An excited dog and an exposed pin are a bad combination for both parties. Magnetic backing is the safer default in any clinic that handles animals directly, and it is easier to move between scrub tops during a shift.
Lanyards have the same problem in reverse. A lanyard hanging over an exam table is something a cat will grab. If staff need door access credentials, a retractable reel clipped at the waist is safer than a neck lanyard.
Make the role line unambiguous
Veterinarian, Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Assistant and Client Service Representative are four different jobs and owners cannot tell them apart by scrubs. Spell out the role rather than abbreviating it. There is room.
Small touches that land
Some clinics add a line for the staff member's own pet, or a small paw icon in the corner. It is a low cost way to make an anxious owner smile, and it gives them something to talk about that is not the bill.
