What the gold oval blank actually is
Each one starts as the same printed badge face as our standard plastic line, paired with a two-magnet backer rather than a pin.
Gold warms up navy, black and burgundy uniforms and photographs richer than silver, which is why hospitality and jewelry counters lean gold. Printed face, clear coat, then a magnetic backer bonded to the reverse.
The magnets outlast the badge. The failure point is usually a bent backer from being pulled off sideways instead of lifted, which is why we ship a replacement backer with bulk reorders.
How much text fits on the oval
The printable window on this blank is 2.6 x 1.1 in, which leaves room for a centered name with a short title. The curved edges eat the last few characters on each line, so set long names one point smaller.
Names are the thing that breaks a layout, not titles. Set the longest name on your list first, then size everything else around it. If it will not fit at the size in the table below, drop to a first name plus last initial before you shrink the type, because a badge nobody can read from four feet away is worse than a shortened name.
Magnet backing on this one

At the 26 pt name size we use for this blank you get roughly 13 characters, or about 9 once a logo shares the badge. Longer than that and we set a first name with a last initial rather than shrinking the type.
